Township Departments – Park & Recreation
East Goshen Township owns a lovely 55-acre active park located at 1661 Paoli Pike. Facilities at this, the East Goshen Park include the Hicks Pavilion and the Veterans Pavilion, both with small brick barbecues and close access to rest rooms. You must be an East Goshen resident to reserve a pavilion or any park facility.
Since we have an active population, there are areas in the East Goshen Park for sports such as the baseball, softball and soccer fields; a small multi-use field, a sand volleyball court, six tennis courts and hitting backboard; two full-size basketball courts with additional baskets for shooting around, a well-equipped children activity area, a fitness circuit area and a gazebo. There is no bicycling, rollerblading or skateboarding permitted on the East Goshen Park walking/jogging trail which is .9 of a mile in length. Dogs must be kept on a leash in the park and must be under the control of their owner.
The park has many passive areas for sunbathing, reading, frisbee throwing, etc. The park is a popular place for walkers and joggers. It has rest room facilities and water fountains. Parking space has been enhanced and all facilities are planned and installed with the idea of maintaining a harmony with nature. The park is superbly maintained by the Public Works Department. The park closes at dusk and drinking alcohol is prohibited.
On the other side of Paoli Pike and across from East Goshen park is the beautiful, 100 acre Applebrook Park. Applebrook Park is a passive park which includes three miles of walking/jogging trails. Rollerblading and bicycling are permitted on the Applebrook’s walking/jogging trail. There are no organized sporting activities or group picnics permitted in Applebrook Park. Dogs must be kept on a leash in the park and must be under the control of their owner. Parking for Applebrook Park is done at the lot adjacent to the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.
In addition to our main parks, East Goshen has hundred of acres of open space throughout our Township.
Note: Before using tennis courts, residents should purchase an annual Tennis key at a cost of $30.00 Resident, $ 50.00 Non-Resident per year at the Township Building.
The Park and Recreation Board sponsors a diverse group of activities for residents enjoyment and mental and physical fitness. These activities are fun year-round and include many sports as well as cerebral and instructional courses and clinics. Activities are fun for all age groups. The popular and in some ways unique Children summer day camp is well staffed and organized.
The Park Board also has two annual special Events – The Pumpkin Fest in the fall and the Egg Hunt in the spring.
